The first Record Storage and Media Storage activities of the Merak organisation started in Belgium in 1986, where an analysis of these services was made and the required software was developed. The objective was to store and manage all kinds of information carriers according to the wishes of the customer and the specific requirements of the carrier type. To insure that all activity be consistently and faultlessly carried out, even during periods of rapid expansion, the management decided in 1993 to do what it would take to be awarded the internationally recognised quality certification ISO 9002.

Merak Nederland bv has been founded in 1996 and is rendering the services of storing and managing records. The storage facilities meet the standards of the Merak organisation and the management systems are constantly supervised. The staff is fully trained and supported by the central operations management. From the very start, Merak Nederland bv worked according to the very strict rules and procedures of the Merak-group.

2002
After a first audit in November 2001, Merak Nederland BV was ISO 9002 certified on January 31, 2002

2003
In June of 2003, again upon the initial audit, Merak was granted the ISO 9001:2000 certification.

2008
In March 2008, Merak has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 IT safety certification. Also in March 2008, an independent audit confirmed Merak compliant with the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry – Data Safety Standards) as effective on January 1, 2008.
